Native American Indian Day

On Tuesday 19th of July 2016, year 7 had their activity day, which was based around the life and culture of the Native American Indians.

Sophie Cole of 7E quotes “I found it very different to normal school life and I learnt a lot about their culture. With our 5 workshop sessions {Dance, Dream Catchers, stone carving, History, Meditation and Music} we learnt a variety of different parts of Native American life as it was. From Culture to Meditation, our knowledge broadened on all areas.

In the dance session, we were lucky enough to learn the ‘Grass Dance,’ and 15 lucky individuals performed it in front of everyone in the plenary session. Also, 50 students were able to participate in the fabulous art Sculpture workshop and carved faces into the stone. Vivien Wong of 7E said “It was really fun and it was a great experience. We would like to thank Mrs Saunders for organising the event and the volunteers for giving up their time to give us a chance to learn something new. Many girls expressed their enjoyment of having the opportunity to learn through hands on experience and practical activities.
